LYNN STEENBERG
How did she come to Sports PT?
Sports PT found me!
- Has more than 37 years of experience in the healthcare field
- Graduated from Ithaca College in 1978 with her degree in Physical Therapy
- Earned her National Certification in Athletic Training the following year in 1979
- Began her physical therapy career in pediatrics while serving as a volunteer high school athletic trainer for various teams
- Began her sports medicine management career at Cornell University in 1981 where she was the Supervisor of the Physical Therapy Department
- Moved to Syracuse, NY in 1986 to open Onondaga Sports Medicine Center, a sports medicine-focused outpatient rehabilitation center
- Joined HealthSouth under a management contract in 1994, where her responsibilities grew from managing two locations in Central New York to more than 50 locations across the state by 2000
- Founded Sports Physical Therapy of New York, PC after the termination of HealthSouth’s management agreement on July 1, 2005
What’s her favorite part of the job?
Mentoring my people.
What does she enjoy outside of work?
Being with my family, volunteering, watching my husband’s football team, reading, and playing golf.

- Received the “Clara Barton Award for Exceptional Volunteer Leadership” by the Central New York Chapter of the American Red Cross in June 2010
- Received the “Women Who Mean Business” Award in 2010
- Has served for more than 20 years as the musical director of two youth choirs at University United Methodist Church, sits on multiple support committees and is the former President of the Board of Trustees
- Member of the Executive Women’s Golf Association and is a 2008 Woman in Business award recipient
- Member of the National Associaiton of Professional Women
- Resides in Syracuse with her husband, Matt, a retired physical education teacher at Fayetteville-Manlius high school and a collegiate football coach at Cortland State University
- Their three adult children have also joined the medical and fitness/wellness professions
- Member of the Women Presidents’ Organization

How did she come to Sports PT?
I served on the Board of the American Red Cross with Lynn Steenberg and admired hearing her success stories. She offered me a chance to facilitate an All State meeting for Sports PT and I was convinced that I wanted to be part of the next chapter with these wonderful people!
- Received a BS in Business/Human Resources from SUNY Empire State College.
- Earned a Certificate in Human Resources from LeMoyne College
- Consults with organizations on human resources, team dynamics and strategic planning
What’s her favorite part of the job?
Being able to contribute to the development of the people who make up Sports PT is the best part. Strategically aligning with the leadership to bring programs to the staff, community and the stakeholders delivers daily satisfaction and reward.
What does she enjoy outside of work?
Spending time with my family, engaging in community activities and helping those in need.

How did she come to Sports PT?
I was a student here and loved the experience and the setting.
- Earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy degree from the State University of New York in Buffalo in 2006
- Began working at Sports PT following graduation
- Has actively participated in patient care, student internships, and continuing education opportunities on a regular basis
- Spent 2 years as Facility Manager of the Tonawanda office
- Specializes in Vestibular Therapy and Orthopedics

Helping people feel better and meeting a lot of people.

How did he come to Sports PT?
I joined Sports PT because of their great reputation, dedication to patient-centered care, and evidence-based approach to providing physical therapy.
- Earned a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from SUNY Upstate Medical University, 2015
- Earned a BS in Athletic Training from Ithaca College, 2010
- Clinical interests include: orthopedic manual therapy for the spine and extremities, vestibular rehabilitation, post-surgical rehabilitation, and sports medicine.
Favorite Part Of The Job:
Helping people move better and feel better while doing it. Experiencing new learning opportunities and adopting ways that better help and serve our patients.
Other Interests:
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, staying active through working out and playing golf, and watching/attending sporting events.

I wanted to join a team that puts people first and help that team and their positive mentality grow.

How did he come to Sports PT?
Zachary was a student at Sports PT and early into his clinical education he knew he wanted to be a part of the team permanently. Zach’s passion and drive to take athletes to the next level was a perfect fit with the Sports PT philosophy, and he felt this was the place where he could grow as a clinician.

Favorite Part Of The Job:
Helping patients return to the lifestyle they want to live! I enjoy working with people of all ages but working with athletes and helping them get back to the playing field as fast as possible is my biggest passion.

Everything from hiking, hunting, golf, softball, and time with friends and family. I’m willing to discuss anything in the latest sports news!

How did she come to Sports PT?
When relocating to Buffalo, I had endlessly researched the best physical therapy clinics in the area; Sports PT was always at the top of the list. I am so happy to be part of the team.
- Graduated from Ithaca College with a Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2016
- Graduated from Ithaca College with a Bachelor’s in Clinical Health Studies in 2014

- Clinical specialties include vestibular therapy and concussion rehabilitation as well as return to sport of athletes.
- Special interests include working with athletes of all ages, vestibular and concussion rehabilitation, teaching and mentoring student PT’s, participating in APTA events, and continuing my clinical education.

Favorite Part Of The Job:
My favorite part of my job is seeing the look on my patients face when they reach their goals or no longer have dizziness. I love making a lasting impact on their lives.
Other Interests:
Outside of work I enjoy running, cycling, swimming, lifting weights, yoga, and most outdoor recreational activities. I love spending time with my boyfriend and our cat. Otherwise, you may find me shopping, cooking/baking, face-timing with my family….or dreaming about my next travel destination or being on a beach somewhere.

How did she come to Sports PT?
I was actually a patient before I worked here. I saw how much fun their staff seemed to be having at work so when it came time for me to graduate college and get a full time job I applied! I never expected to be here this long or to love it so much!

- Professional interests include being a leader, mentoring my team and helping them grow.
- Personal interests include science, history, true crime, and advocating for equal rights for all.

My favorite thing about my job is my coworkers, here in WNY and across the state. We truly feel like a family and I’m so thankful to have such a great team!

I love to dance, read, shop, go out with friends, and hang with family. I love being an aunt and a homeowner!

How did she come to Sports PT?
I initially chose SportsPT because I wanted to get back in the medical field and was looking for an organization that had a lot of community presence and participated in giving back to the community.

Favorite Part of the Job:
My favorite part of my job is the mentorship that I get to do with my peers and seeing the result of all our hard work and watching them blossom into their full potential. I also absolutely love working with my teammates; they’re the best!

I enjoy traveling, hiking with my dog, reading, going to concerts, watching NFL and college football, cooking, and tacos.
