About this Clinic

Our clinic has been a part of the Gramercy, Union Square, and Chelsea communities since 1995. Our patient population is very diverse. Each patient receives excellent clinical care that includes hands-on treatment, specific supervised therapeutic exercises, detailed home exercise programs, and superior patient education. Our environment is friendly and professional.

Name: Afriqiyah Woods, PT
Credentials: Facility Manager, Physical Therapist

Afriqiyah is a licensed physical therapist with 13 years of experience and has been a manager at SPTNY for 8 years. She is a graduate of the Howard University School of Allied Health with a degree in Physical Therapy. Afriqiyah has also attended Long Island University and graduated receiving a Masters degree in Sports Science & Athletic Training. She was a physical therapy Fellow with the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama. Her experience includes working with St. Francis College & the University of Missouri Athletics Program. Her expertise is sports medicine and orthopaedic physical therapy. Her hobbies included basketball, tennis, jogging, and most importantly being a mommy.


Name: Jonathan Bacharach, DPT

Jonathan is a graduate of the Doctoral program of Physical Therapy from Stony Brook University. While having clinical experience in acute care and pediatrics, his main interests lie in orthopedic and sports rehabilitation. Through his education and clinical work he has gained experience in utilizing Maitland and Mackenzie techniques and always keeps up with the latest research in order to provide the best care for his patients. In his free time, he enjoys playing golf and going to the gym.


Name: Nina Figueroa, PT

Nina graduated with her BS degree from Virginia Tech and received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from The George Washington University in Washington DC. She has completed internships in various cities including Chicago, IL where she was involved with the Stroke & Traumatic Brain Injury Unit at the MarianJoy Rehabilitation Hospital; and in Pittsburgh, PA with the University of Pittsburgh Sports Medical Center. Nina's experiences during these internships and other affiliations have provided her with a diverse knowledge in subacute and neuromuscular diagnoses, but most importantly experience in working with the orthopedic musculoskeletal patient. She has been involved in sports rehabilitation ranging from post-operative to chronic and acute injuries as well as amputee and post-concussion therapy programs. Nina is a former NCAA Division I collegiate athlete and USL W-League Semi-Pro soccer player who continues to coach and provide lessons during her spare time.


Name: Loraine Antoine, MSPT

Loraine graduated with a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from SUNY Downstate Medical Center (Health Science Center of Brooklyn). She continued her education at Temple University and received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy two years later. Loraine has professional experience in the acute care/hospital and rehabilitation settings at NYU Langone Medical Center. Since 2007, Loraine has been practicing sports and orthopedic physical therapy at SPTNY. She is a former dancer with a focus in modern dance and experience in ballet, jazz, tap, and African dancing. Loraine attends continuing education courses to enhance her manual therapy skills and enjoys dancing, sports, and traveling in her free time.

Shayna received her degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant in 2000 from Bay State College in Boston, MA. She joined the Sports PT team shortly after moving to New York City in 2006. Her clinical interests include orthopedic injuries and total body fitness offering guidance and positive reinforcement with each patient. In her free time she enjoys running, biking and traveling.
